My fish is really, really weird...

Oh I miiiisssss my camera with video capability so much right now….I have a Beta fish named Zoinks.
Three weeks ago my daughter brought home a little foam lily pad accessory for a beta fish bowl.
It is so cute, but I never could have predicted what this little addition to the bowl would bring about.
My fish literally flips himself up on this lily pad, and just lays there, for hours.

When I first noticed this behavior, I thought he had died. It was early in the morn, and I went to feed him, and found him laying there on that lily pad not moving. I cried, and thought, that is it, no more Betas, I get to attached to them and their life span isn’t much more than two to three years. Zoinks was my replacement for a beta that lived to a ripe four years old, and I was heart broken when Rohen died. My hubby got me Zoinks for the Christmas after.

So a couple hours later, my husband awoke and I told him about the fish. He hugged me tight, and told me he would see to it that the fish got buried some where nice in one of the flower gardens. He picked the bowl up to take my poor little buddy to his resting place, and the fish slid off that lily pad and began to swim around. We were open mouthed and definitely astounded.

I know, I know…it is hard to believe.
No one believes it till they see it.

He sits on my desk so I see him often, and he sidles up to that lily pad, and flops himself right on top of it, and just lays there, ever so still, some times up to four to five hours.

I showed him to my dad today during lunch break from the wheat harvest, and my dad said, “Flush him honey he is dead! “….LOL…you should have seen the look on my daddy’s face when I tapped the bowl glass and that fish hopped off that pad and started swimming around
The hubby thinks we should rename him…he wants to call him Lazarus, I suggested Dracula …lol!

I can’t find anything on the net that explains this behavior. He looks healthy, he eats just fine, and he even built another bubble nest after I cleaned his bowl last weekend. I am completely & totally baffled by his behavior!
